Nourishing Hope is thrilled to announce the hiring of Natia Barnett, the organization’s first program expansion manager. The new position is designed to help build new partnerships with trusted organizations in communities in Chicago’s South and West Sides that have endured decades of inequitable access to food and other resources.
During the past two years, Nourishing Hope responded to a historic need for food assistance and social services that was unlike any other time in our 50-year existence. Put simply, we could not have risen to the challenge without the outpouring of support from our donors, volunteers and community partners.We are overwhelmed with gratitude. To keep our volunteers, staff, and community healthy and safe, we’ve had to make some difficult decisions due to the recent spike in COVID cases. To reduce the risk of transmission before the holidays, we will not be distributing food on Thursday, Dec. 23.

Due to flooding related to a broken sewer pipe, Nourishing Hope will have limited distribution at our Sheridan Market over the next few days. Beginning November 1, Nourishing Hope will require all new and existing volunteers to be vaccinated against COVID-19. We are implementing this policy to help ensure the safety of the people we serve, as well as our volunteers and staff, and to minimize the pandemic’s impact on our essential operations.
Nourishing Hope’s Health and Hope Program is expanding to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago thanks to Lindsey Arenberg, Manager of Program Development at Lurie Children’s and a weekly volunteer at Nourishing Hope.
