At Nourishing Hope, we mourn the loss and celebrate the life of Bruce Tranen, a dedicated volunteer and ardent supporter of our mental health program.
Among his many life accomplishments, Bruce volunteered hundreds of hours helping our neighbors in need at Nourishing Hope’s Sheridan Market in Lakeview. Since 2020, Bruce and his wife Jan have also generously funded one of our mental health therapist positions — a critical role as mental health needs increased alongside food insecurity during the pandemic.
We’re grateful beyond any adequate words for Bruce’s immense compassion and generosity in helping his fellow Chicagoans. We offer our deepest condolences to his wife Jan and the rest of his family. May they find peace in his memory.
